Raindrop.io is the benchmark bookmark manager. It has been in continuous development since 2013, and if you are comparing it against Keepfor, you are doing your homework. This page compares the two fairly, including the areas where Raindrop wins, because a comparison that hides that is an ad, not a guide.
The short version
- Pick Raindrop.io if you want the most polished, cheapest bookmark manager with a decade-long track record and native apps on every platform.
- Pick Keepfor if you want open source you can self-host, AI features woven through the product, or direct AI-assistant access to your library.
Both are good tools. They are built for slightly different jobs.

Where Raindrop.io wins
Price. This one is not close. Raindrop Pro at roughly $28 a year is about half the price of Keepfor Personal at $55 a year. If your budget is the deciding factor and you do not need AI features, Raindrop is the rational pick.
Maturity and polish. Thirteen years of development shows. Raindrop's apps are polished on every major platform, including native desktop and mobile apps, and its organization system (nested collections, tags, visual boards) is the best in the category. Keepfor is a web app with a browser extension; it does not have native mobile or desktop apps.
Free tier. Raindrop's free plan is genuinely generous: unlimited bookmarks, collections, highlights, and devices. It is enough for most people, which is worth saying on a competitor's website.
Where Keepfor wins
Open source and self-hosting. Keepfor's core is AGPL-3.0 licensed and free to self-host on your own Cloudflare account. Raindrop is closed source and cloud-only. After the Pocket shutdown stranded 10 million users, this is not an abstract preference. It is the difference between a tool you own and a tool you rent.
AI is the product, not an add-on. Raindrop added its Stella AI assistant in 2026 as a Pro feature. Keepfor was built around AI from the start: semantic search across your library, automatic AI summaries, suggested tags, and ask-your-library Q&A are core to the paid plans, not a sidebar.
Your AI assistant can use your library. This is the genuine differentiator. Keepfor exposes 47 tools over the Model Context Protocol, so Claude Desktop, Cursor, or Claude Code can search your saved articles, summarize them, tag them, and save new ones, all inside the assistant. Raindrop has a documented classic API, which is useful for integrations but is not the same thing as an AI-native interface.
No lock-in, by architecture. Full library export as HTML or JSON at any time, and the open-source core means your archive survives even the company.
The deciding questions
- Do you care about open source or self-hosting? If yes, Keepfor is the only option of the two.
- Do you want an AI assistant working with your reading list? If yes, Keepfor's MCP support is currently unique.
- Do you mostly save links and want the cheapest polished tool? Raindrop Pro at ~$28/year is hard to argue with.
- Do you live in native mobile apps? Raindrop's iOS and Android apps are the safer bet today.
If you are migrating from Pocket specifically, both tools import bookmark HTML, which is the format Pocket's export used.
